Within Leatherworking, three speciality options are available. You can only pick one of these at a time, and they each provide different benefits.
Dragonscale Leatherworking - branch out and craft more Mail-type gear.
Elemental Leatherworking - lots of elemental resistance and Leather-type agility gear.
Tribal Leatherworking - lots of Leather-type intellect & agility gear, and the coveted Devilsaur Armor set.
Leatherworking is a primary profession, and you can only have two primary professions active at once in Classic WoW. Leatherworking pairs well with Skinning as you will need those reagents for crafted gear.
Druids, Rogues, Shaman, and Hunter may be interested in pairing Leatherworking and Skinning to craft their own gear. As for Leatherworking specialties, Shaman and Hunter would choose Dragonscale as it provides mail gear, Leather-wearers interested in DPS/healing raid performance would take Tribal Leatherworking for the agility and intellect gear, while leather-wearers needing resistance gear would choose Elemental Leatherworking. Hunters may also find Leatherworking useful while leveling, as it is a good source of low-level quivers such as Quickdraw Quiver.
