Jewelcrafting Changes from Battle for Azeroth to Shadowlands:
Two new gem types added: One increases your Health and one increases your Speed based on how many Shadowlands gems you have socketed on your gear.
There are now only three base gems, each representing a primary color.
Rare-Quality Gems no longer exist, being created by combining different base gems.
Rare-Quality Gems can also be used as an Optional Reagent in crafted gear, allowing you to choose what secondary stat you want on that piece of gear.
Shadowlands adds new versions of gems to equip in your gear, as well as two new gem types: One that increases your Health and one that increases your Speed depending on how many Shadowlands gems are socketed in your gear. These new gems are Unique-Equipped, meaning you can only have one of them socketed at a time.
As with previous expansions, Jewelcrafters are able to craft rings and necklaces with a socket defaulted to every single piece. This time, Jewelcrafters are able to craft two kinds of items - Common and Rare-quality rings with pre-assigned stats, and a legendary ring and necklace.
Shadowlands brings many changes to professions and one of the most exciting ones is Optional Reagents. Jewelcrafting currently has 12 optional reagents, with 7 of them still on Placeholder stages. 4 of them are Rare-quality gems that can be used to choose a secondary stat on your crafted piece of gear, and one has a chance to make an enemy occasionally take extra damage from Frost attacks.
